60th Anniversary Cabs / 10th Anniversary Cabs.org!
The Hawthorne Caballeros are celebrating their 60th
anniversary this year and with that our website is celebrating it's
10th year of existence. Being such a special year we wanted to
do something extra special for our fans who have made cabs.org their
online home for information not just about the Caballeros but for all
drum corps news.
For the entire 2006 season we will be putting up a video clip of the
week honoring great Caballeros corps of the past. Some of this
footage will even been in Black and White, and even others with no
sound. Each clip will be optimized for streaming on the web and
are best viewed with a broadband connection. Past weeks clips will
be moved to a new 60th anniversary page where you can get any clip you
might have missed.
Thanks again as the Caballeros thank YOU our fans for all your support
over the past 60 years. May we see all of you around cheering for
the next 60!
What a better way to start than with a video of the most recent
Caballeros Championship!
11/27/2006
I again have run out of footage.
If anyone has
video from the following years please contact me at
webmaster@cabs.org so I can
continue providing the video of the week!

Hawthorne Caballeros Select New Dynasty USA Drums for 2006
The Hawthorne Caballeros are proud to partner with Dynasty USA in 2006.
The Caballeros recently unveiled a full set of shiny new black Dynasty
Drums. Gary Gill, Percussion Caption Head and Arranger for the
Caballeros said that the Caballeros chose Dynasty Percussion because “we
love the design of the drums - the sturdiness and the sounds of these
drums are second to none. The projection of the bass drums is awesome,
nice crisp sound from the snares and a dynamic sound from the tenors. I
couldn’t be happier”.
Frank Gerris, President and General Manager of the Hawthorne Caballeros
commented that “we chose Dynasty USA because of their championship
attitude and customer service. We are looking forward to a successful
competing season with Dynasty USA as our partner”.
“We are elated to have the Hawthorne Caballeros playing Dynasty USA in
2006 and beyond” said Allan Murray, Vice President of Sales and
Marketing for Dynasty USA. “As this is the Caballeros 60th anniversary
we are just excited to be a part of it all and we wish them great
success in their 60th year!”
Dynasty USA Marching Brass and Dynasty USA Marching Percussion are
recognized as the leaders in marching instrument design and are used the
world over by marching bands and drum corps on every level. Dynasty
Marching Brass and Percussion commands instant respect on the
competitive field with unparalleled quality of sound, intonation,
projection, durability and design. Since 1965, Dynasty USA has proven
its commitment by providing musicians with quality marching instruments.

March 20th - a Special Day!
On March 20th, 1946 the Hawthorne Post 199 Senior Drum & Bugle Corps was
formed. Later know as the world famous Hawthorne Caballeros!
In honor of this great day for the weekly video we will be presenting: James J.
Costello Jr. "The Man with a Vision". This
video was originally created between the 1998 and 1999 seasons for the
testimonial dinner given in Jim's honor. Today over 60 years ago
is where it all began.
Also I have
been sent the 60th Anniversary video that was shown at the 60th Dinner
earlier this month. So this is a special week with not one but
TWO videos!

Mission 06:60 Launch Successful!
On Sunday, November 27, 2005 the Hawthorne Caballeros
kicked off what will be a season to remember. We had a tremendous
turn-out…many new faces, a great number of returning members and friends
of the Caballeros showed up to launch our 2006 season and our 60th
Anniversary Corps.
The energy at Post 199 in Hawthorne was unbelievable. You could feel the
excitement coming from everywhere. Our new video history of the
Caballeros started off with Jim Costello talking about the great
traditions of the corps. Yes, Jim was there - in our spirit, our
traditions and in every Caballero in the room. Past, present and future.
Frank Gerris and Gary Gill introduced our staff and Tony Smith brought
the attendees to a standing applause with the staff’s vision of the 2006
Season.
After our orientation session we all traveled to Hawthorne High School
to start our first rehearsal. The sounds coming from the horns, the
drum-line and the color guard rehearsals kept observers running from gym
to gym. Then the entire corps got together for our first 2006 rehearsal
wrap up. The drum line and pit presented the results of their rehearsal
– strong basics and exercises filled the room. The horn line then
performed parts of the opener followed by a beautiful and graceful
demonstration from our color guard.
Yes, the Caballeros are excited about 2006 – you can feel the energy
from Hawthorne, New Jersey. It is just the beginning. The beginning of a
history making year – so come on down and check us out. Our first camp
is scheduled for December 10th and 11th at Hawthorne High School in
Hawthorne, NJ. See our schedule for details.
